Choosing an Archetype

“There is one thing stronger than all the armies in the world, and that is an idea whose time has come.” – Victor Hugo

In Reign of Dragons, characters are not locked into rigid classes. Instead, each character begins with an Archetype which represents a narrative foundation in upbringing, training and worldview.

Archetypes do not determine status or social rank.
A Soldier may be a knight, a mercenary, or a pressed levy.
A Noble may be honorable, cruel or hopelessly unprepared.

What matters is how the Archetype informs your starting strengths, not where your story must end.
